Indifference can often lead someone else to make a decision for me so for today my list of indifference is short:

  • club sandwiches

Okay, I can’t really think of anything else. I guess everything I’m indifferent about either fades away into the ether or swiftly changes to something I like or dislike. For example:

Q: Where would you like to eat?

A: I don’t care.

If someone responds with “okay, let’s eat at the Spaghetti Factory” I will probably protest.

Q: What would you like to listen to?

A: Whatevs…

If all the sudden I’m hearing Huey Lewis you can guarantee that I will express my opinion…and concern.

Q: Do you want to just hang out at my house and watch a movie or go out?

A: Either way is fine by me.

If watching a movie at home was chosen and the chooser is sitting on the sofa clipping their toenails over the coffee table, next to the bowl of popcorn, I probably would have been more decisive.

So what this particular exercise has taught me is I should always answer those types of questions with a question because answering with indifference just may lead one to a bowl of toenail clippings.

I’ll take that club sandwich now thank you.
